體型不小，陽澄湖大閘蟹的特色，就是青殼白肚、肉質偏甜，今年產量預計9900噸左右。
但是，蟹農坦言，數量確實有受到天災影響。
周氏斌澄蟹業公司總經理周斌：「3月份的時候氣候太冷，到了6到7月7、7月份的時候高溫，最後一根稻草就是(貝碧佳)颱風，吹壞網(大閘蟹)就逃出去了。」
而且，因為產量比過去少，上市時間晚，所以，開捕初期價格相對偏高，等大批上市後，價格才會回落。
陽澄湖養殖戶：「母蟹基本上是可以吃了，公蟹少量也可以吃，但是不是最肥美的時候，最肥美的時候大概在10/20左右。」
在正牌的陽澄湖大閘蟹開捕前，中國大陸不少店家等不及，推出各種名為「陽澄湖鎮」大閘蟹、「陽澄湖發」大閘蟹、「陽澄湖蟹」等冒牌貨，大玩文字游戲，意圖欺騙消費者。
