暑假期間打工人數增多，勞動部提醒，打工族與一般勞工享有相同的勞動權益保障，不因工時長短而有所差別。雇主應依法按月提繳不低於每月工資6％的退休金，且提繳金額應由雇主全額負擔，不能從打工族薪水扣減退休金。
勞動部進一步說明，打工族的退休金提繳金額，應以全月工資所得總和，依「勞工退休金月提繳分級表」的等級金額申報月提繳工資。舉例來說，若打工族固定每周工作1天，全月工作4天，每次5小時，時薪200元，日薪1000元，全月工資為4000元，依規定標準，雇主應申報全月月提繳工資為4500元。

除了強制雇主幫勞工提繳退休金外，勞工自身也可在每月工資6％的範圍內，自願提繳退休金。這些提繳金額每年可參與投資收益分配，運用收益不低於銀行2年定期存款利率計算之收益。勞動部表示，勞工愈早參加、提繳的時間越長，歷年累積之收益越多，勞工年滿60歲時，即可申請領回專戶內本金與收益。
勞動部強調，打工族隨時可透過勞工保險局e化服務系統，以「自然人憑證」或「行動電話認證」等方式，登入查詢自身退休金的狀況。若雇主未依規定申報提繳退休金，可處2萬元以上10萬元以下罰鍰，並按月處罰至改正為止。打工族如發現雇主未提繳退休金，可向勞工保險局申訴檢舉，以保障自身權益。
