日本電視台新聞網等日媒18日報導，埼玉縣川口市「並木2丁目」住宅區1棟公寓當晚有1戶傳出爆炸。該戶的陽台外壁及玻璃因爆炸而震飛到路上。鑒於該公寓距JR「西川口站」東側約150公尺，造成JR東日本暫時停駛，約兩萬名旅客受影響。
該公寓18日晚間8點半（台灣當晚7點半）發生爆炸。119接獲報案後趕到現場撲滅火勢，並確定有3人受傷。其中1名男子雖送醫，但意識清醒、沒生命危險，其餘兩人均能正常說話並婉拒就醫。後兩名傷者的性別、年齡和傷勢皆不詳。

該公寓對面1家超市1名女員工指稱，她當時聽到爆裂聲響，道路兩旁的窗戶玻璃破了4片。
消防單位共出動消防車等車輛12台，以及4輛救護車。警消正調查爆炸原因。
