電費是租房族的重要開銷，以往房東可收取「電費最高級距之每度金額」今起新制修正為不得超過「當期每度平均電價」或「當期電費總額」，違者可裁罰房東新台幣3萬至30萬元。
內政部於本月初公告修正「住宅租賃定型化契約應記載及不得記載事項」中的電費計收標準，並課予房東提供電費資訊的義務，過去房東可收取電費最高級距之每度金額，今新制上路後改以「實支實收」為原則。

新北地政局地價科長蕭湘君試算，若收費是按用電度數計算，則每度不得超過2.65元；若未按用電度數收費，則房東收取的電費不得超過1118元，房客可視自己簽約內容、每期收到的電費單來確認應繳交的費用。
蕭湘君指出，新制規定還課予房東有「提供電費資訊之義務」，房客也可以自行向台電申辦查詢電費。此外，公共設施用電如未申辦分攤併入租屋處電費者，房東亦不得額外收取。
蕭湘君也提醒，因新制不溯及既往，但只要簽訂舊契約的租賃雙方都同意，就可約定適用新制。住宅租賃契約全面適用「消費者保護法」規定，房東若有超收電費等違法情況，經限期改正而不改正者，將處新台幣3萬至30萬元罰鍰，按次處罰。
