德國地球科學研究中心（GFZ）表示，秘魯南部海岸附近今天發生規模5.7地震，震源深度10公里。
路透社報導，根據秘魯地球物理研究所（Geophysical Institute of Peru）測報，這起地震規模6.0，震央在南部阿雷基帕大區（Arequipa）海岸附近。

秘魯海軍水文與航海局（Directorate of Hydrographyand Navigation of the Peruvian Navy）確認，這起地震並未為沿岸地區帶來海嘯威脅。
秘魯與厄瓜多兩國皆位處太平洋火環帶（PacificRing of Fire），這是太平洋周圍的一個廣闊區域，因板塊相互碰撞導致地震頻繁而廣為人知。
