位於高雄市湖內區的東方設計大學，創校於1966年，2017年改制為科技大學，擁有藝術設計、民生設計、應用設計三學院，受到少子化影響及師資質量不合規定，去（2023）被列為專案輔導學校，隨後校方主動申請112學年全面停招，確定在今（2024）年7月31日停辦。不過近日傳出積欠高達數千萬薪資，教職員工聯合提起民事訴訟要求補償。對此，教育部回應，校方當時因財務狀況不佳，與94位教職員工達成協議簽署同意書，目前案件已進入司法程序。
東方設計大學自112學年度起停止全部招生，教育部表示，校方與教職員簽署減薪同意書，2021年2月1日至2023年1月31日期間，實施調低學術研究費（專業加給），之後學校跟教職員工協商，從2023年2月1日起至6月30日將減發的教師研究費改為借薪，這段時間的借薪已於今年1月全數歸還。依《私立高級中等以上學校退場條例》第14條規定，教育部解除全體董事職務，並於2023年7月14日重組公益董事會，教職員工薪水皆由退場基金墊付，目前無欠薪。
