英國衛報報導，印尼當地時間3日，蘇門答臘島（Sumatra）馬拉皮火山（Mount Marapi）發生大規模噴發，造成11名登山客罹難、12人下落不明，當局出動軍警逾160人持續進行搜救。
印尼巴東搜救局（Padang Search and Rescue Agency）表示，「未撤離的26名登山客中已尋獲14人，其中僅3人生還。」

當地時間2日，總計75名登山客展開攀登。
馬拉皮火山爆發，火山灰噴發高度達到3公里，當局立即封閉兩條攀登路線，並指示馬拉皮附近住民撤離3公里。
印尼火山及地質減災中心（BNPB）表示，馬拉皮火山海拔高度2,891公尺，屬於第三高警戒級別。
