台鐵229次（EMU3000型自強號）日前在花蓮路段西正線撞上土石流，造成列車出軌，更被踢爆據內部流出的影像，事發前19分鐘就拍到土石淹沒軌道，卻無人通報。台鐵調查結果今（3日）出爐，事發時有人員值班，土石流發生前3分鐘曾離開監控處上廁所，台鐵懲處8人記申誡到記過不等，董事長杜微也自請處分。
台鐵調查結果指出，花蓮工務段值班室規定為24小時值班，6月21日下午4時30分到49分發生新自強號撞土石流時，都有一名羅姓人員值班，不過就在發生土石流前3分鐘，下午4時25分到27分相關人員曾離開監控位置去上洗手間。

杜微宣布懲處結果，共懲處8人，包括自己也自行處分，總經理馮輝昇記申誡一次，另值班人員也記申誡一次，花蓮工務段長和台鐵工務處處長因督導不周記過一次。另外，台鐵針對4人記功，陳姓司機員負傷不退，下車確認車輛和受損情況，並持續通報、安撫旅客、協助旅客轉乘，記功兩次；黃姓列車長因協助旅客脫險，也記功一次，兩個服務員也因協助和安撫旅客，也各別記嘉獎兩次。
