暑假到了，不少人到機場要出國，卻發現有部分的航班，在辦理報到後，卻要拖著行李，一路走到另一個航廈登機，甚至要走20分鐘，對於年紀大的長輩來說，更是不方便，會這樣安排，就是因為現在每天平均客機起落總架次超過600架，空橋數量不夠。

辦理報到和登機在不同航廈，會這樣的原因，就是因為空橋數量不夠，以桃園機場提供的數據，今年的六月，桃園機場的客機出入境，總共有18036架次，平均每天大概有600架客機，但第一航廈有18座空橋，第二航廈則是20座，總共38座空橋，從架設、旅客登機一直到結束，一個航班得要耗時1到1.5個小時，不過，並非所有旅客都按時搭機，尖峰時刻，甚至還有許多航班同時，就會有空橋不敷使用的情形，就得多預留時間，提早到候機室，整個狀況要改善得等到三航啟用。
而想要省下登機手續的時間，就可以在線上辦理電子登機證。
長榮航空公司課長張宴榮：「(有電子登機證的旅客)到了機場，他不用到像一般傳統的方式，到報到櫃台排隊報到，(可以)選擇到機場的自助托運行李系統，然後去做行李的托運，可以方便，也省掉冗長的排隊時間。」
而且沒有托運行李的旅客，甚至可以持電子登機證，直接通關，在登機門直接登機，讓旅客可以不用提早，那麼多時間到機場，省下寶貴的時間。
